Thinking about Updating your Kitchen?

What are you waiting for?  If you are frustrated with your current kitchen tools, you might as well look for some new tools that will work better.  Your old stuff might very well be inhibiting your efforts in making a good meal.

Make things easier on yourself and get the tools you need.  Here we will help you in choosing a new griddle pan.  Get a quality pan and enjoy easy, delicious cooking!

Buying a Griddle Pan

Do you do a lot of cooking?  If you do and you enjoy cooking, you probably want to use the best tools and appliances possible.  There is no reason to go with low quality when you can often get much better quality for the same price or not much more.

What are you going to be using your griddle pan for and how much are you going to use it?  If you just plan on using it for sunday pancakes a few times a year, you might be best off going with a standard griddle or even an electric griddle.  If you are going to do a lot of cooking with steak, pork, burgers, chicken, fish, etc. you will want a good griddle pan such as a cast iron pan.

Check out the products below for good quality griddle pans.  Check out the individual reviews carefully so that you know what you are getting.

What to look for when buying a griddle pan:

You should above all look for quality.  Find something that will heat correctly, cook thoroughly without scorching, not crack, and last a long time.  Again, you should be able to find this information in the reviews, if not, look elsewhere.

Should you go with a pan that has non-stick coating?  Even if you aren't convinced that this coating can be toxic, I still recommend cast iron pans or stainless steel.  Why?  Anytime I have used teflon pans, the coating begins to where away even after just a few uses.  I'm not sure where that coating is going, in my food or down the drown, but after a few months my food is sticking.

You can often choose between pans with a smooth surface or ridges.  The ridges are great for use in 'indoor' grilling.  You get the grill marks and let the grease drain while still being able to cook indoors.  Smooth surfaces can be used for pancakes or lightly frying or sauteing.  If you are torn between the two, go for both and get a reversible griddle pan.

While you're getting a new griddle, look into some new accessories.  If you are getting a pan with a nonstick coating, you don't want to be using a stainless steel spatula that will scratch up the pan, but a stainless still spatula will work well for a cast iron pan.

Making your Griddle Pans Last

While many of love to shop, shopping for kitchen appliances and supplies such as griddle pans isn't all that exciting unless you're a chef. That is why we want our cookware to last as long as possible so that we save both the time and money from shopping for a new one.

Of course, the less you use a pan, the longer it will last. If you never used it at all, it'd probably last forever. What we are trying to do is be able to get all we can out of it, and get it to last long. If it falls apart, breaks, or wears down to unuseability because you used it all the time, that's fine, because you got good use out of it.

Don't go cheap. That is the most important point to keep in mind. If you buy the cheapest griddle pan you can find, it's not going to last very long. You don't have to purchase the most expensive you can possibly find, just make sure it is made of high quality. Look for a trustworthy brand, especially one that you have used in the past and are very satisfied with, but still don't be afraid to try something new that has excellent reviews that could be even better than what you're used to.

Finally, take care of your pan. Watch it thoroughly and correctly after each use, and store it gently in the right place. For example, don't use a brillo pad on your nonstick cookware and don't shove pans haphazardly under big stacks of other pans. Be smart and take care of your griddle pan.
