What do you Need?

Are you looking for full coverage auto insurance? Do you know what full coverage auto insurance is? It's a term that is commonly used in insurance companies, but it is often debatable what it is exactly.

Here we will discuss different types of coverage. Hopefully you will learn what you need for your individual situation and what will work best for you. When it comes to insurance, you want the best coverage for the lowest price. If you know what to look for, that process will be a lot easier for you.

Throw in a balanced deductible and as many discounts as possible and you could manage to get great coverage at a very affordable price. Remember that it is not all about price. Usually the cheapest insurance available gives you very little of what you really need. Keep that in mind when you are shopping around.

Liability Coverage

When you are looking for coverage options, liability coverage is probably the first one you'll see. You are going to need it in your policy. What is it exactly? Think about the liability term. It means you are responsible for it. If you are in an accident that is your fault and there is damage to the car of the other person in the accident or to the person and the accident was your fault, you are liable.

If you are liable, it will cost you. You want liability coverage to make sure that in the instance that you cause an accident, you don't go broke. Of course, practice safe driving to minimize the possibility that you cause an accident, but you can't guarantee it and therefore, you should get liability coverage.

Be sure to get proper bodily damage liability and property damage liability coverage. This insurance you get for these will cover medical bills, vehicle damage, other property damage, possible lawsuits, etc. Set a reasonable limit. Set it too low and it can cost you.

While liability coverage is very important, it is not all you will need. Next we will talk about other types of coverage you may need before you get your car on the road. Make sure you understand what they are and what they provide. You don't want to be paying for insurance you don't need.

Also, keep in mind what kind of deductibles you are setting for yourself. A higher deductible means lower premiums, but it can also mean a lot of money out of your pocket in case of an accident. Be smart and set what you can afford.

Remember, not all insurance is going to be in the case of an accident.  Cars are stolen and damaged in other ways, too.  If someone steels your car and you're not insured, if your car is not found, you can forget about getting anything to buy a new one.  Don't take that risk.

Physical Damage Coverage

This type of coverage covers the damages to your vehicle or the vehicle you were driving. There are two main types, comprehensive and collision. Comprehensive collsion protects your vehicle if it was stolen or damaged not by collision with another car or object. Basically, you should usually get some type of comprehensive coverage.

Collision includes coverage for damages to your car done by collision with another car or object. Collision isn't necessary if you have an older car. WIth collision, you get reimbursement for the value of your vehicle and if the value is very low, it's not worth the extra premium.

There are many other types of insurance available such as uninsured or underinsured motor bodily injury, uninsured or underinsured property damage, personal injury protection, etc.

Are all of these variations of coverage necessary? Absolutely not. There are so many different variables you will need to consider. You may think that getting full coverage auto insurance means getting all forms of coverage and that this will be your best option. Getting absolutely everything at the highest amount of coverage is going to be a very steep price.

Variations in what you will need will depend on the model, make, and age of your vehicle as well as it's condition, the amount of vehicles you own, the amount of drivers you are insuring, how often and where you drive, where you live, your driving history, what you can afford as far as deductibles, etc.

Before you go out and get the best insurance you think you need, keep in mind that you want a low price and good coverage. Don't let an insurance agent talk you into getting what you don't need. It will cost you in the long run.
